A Message from the Foundation's First Patient!

Tuesday, 1 June 2010

 “Hello Geoffrey,

This is a truly sensational act of kindness and generosity, and is a credit to yourself and ALL the members of the Foundation who have made this possible, and to the memory and vision of John Logan Himself.

This very direct and timely assistance will have an immediate impact on our current situation, by allowing me to continue with the Xeloda treatment specifically.

Unlike the PICC line alternative, this will allow me to continue to make the best use of my current fitness levels to maintain and enjoy our current lifestyle, and remain as healthy as possible to fight this battle.

I am very pleased with the arrangements which you are proposing, as it leaves absolutely no doubt that this generous donation will be used for the purpose you are intending, and keeps my oncologist closely in the loop as well.

Thank you ALL so VERY MUCH, I am indeed humbled by this kind act, and will do all I can from my side to justify it…..with the best possible outcome I can achieve !”

Scott & Haley's Fun Run Success!

Sunday, 18 July 2010

On 18th July, Hayley, her boyfriend Scott and Troy participated in a fun run organised by the Melbourne Age. They ran on behalf of the John Logan Foundation and before the event, they emailed everyone they knew in order to gain sponsorship.  Not leaving themselves much time to train or raise funds, they all nevertheless were keen to enter and to raise funds for what they considered a new and important cancer charity. They gained tremendous support and actually raised in excess of $2,500 between them!

And in 2011, they all plan to do it once again...

Hayley and Scott first heard about the JLF at a funeral for Troy’s father Peter, who recently passed away as a result of a digestive cancer.

The John logan Foundation is very grateful to the Provis Family for their ongoing support of the cause, firstly for arranging donations at Peter’s funeral and secondly to Troy for his great effort in doing the run.  Naturally we are also thrilled that Hayley and Scott took the initiative and also ran for us on July 18th
